OVERALL ASSESSMENT
Thanks to its detailed SECAP report, Yenimahalle Municipality has transparently disclosed its greenhouse-gas inventory and embedded a measurable 40% reduction target for 2030 in its institutional strategy, raising its score to 4 Stars on the İz Sür scale. Stakeholder workshops and academic partnerships have strengthened both the plan's social legitimacy and its technical robustness. However, extending implementation across the entire institution, establishing independent verification mechanisms, and reporting social and employee-rights indicators remain areas requiring further development. Once these gaps are addressed, the municipality appears quite close to reaching 5 Stars through its leadership vision and comprehensive certification.
DEVELOPMENT RECOMMENDATIONS
- Have SECAP implementation results audited by a third party through ISO 14064-1 or CDP.
- ISO 14001, ISO 50001 and/or BRCGS sustainability modules should be extended across all municipal service areas.
- Gender-based, occupational-safety and diversity indicators can be added to the annual performance report.
- Sustainability reports should be published every year, providing data that can be compared with previous years.
